Evening folks.
Busy day writing policy and measuring shoulders.
Spent the evening at Nick Nairns in Aberdeen, learnt how to pair wine and meat, as well as the process of making a good jus.
Also made a New York Cheesecake, which has blown my socks off.
Have a good weekend!

Re: Visitor Instructions
A competent person should fill the permit in. It should be a joint effort and discussion between you and the contractor
Best advise would be to look at the HSE Guidance documentation on Permit To Works.

Re: Selection of crane for lifting ops
I would also examine the conditions for the crane to rest on, will you need outriggers or load distribution plating? Look at weather conditions and if the crane is suitable to work in that weather eg wind causing side swing and increasing load to beam. Methods of communication for driver and operati...

Re: Office staff in the warehouse
I have encountered this problem many times. What if someone wants to step off the walkway, or if the walkway is blocked. A walkway will not prevent anything rolling into someone's foot. Unless there are physical barriers to prevent people leaving the walkway or objects entering the walkway, I would ...

Morning Wendo and SC, and all who follow. Sounds like a busy day, always wanted to take the ferry! Booked onto my Safety Passport course for 2 days starting tomorrow. Ecstatic about it... Today is spent in Leadership Team meetings and conference calls. Tried my kilt on last night and realised I have...

Health & Safety Day...
Hi Folks, typing this before I go to sleep...
I am looking to get my local Fire Brigade (Sco: Grampian/Eng: West Midlands)in to run a stall over a lunch period and talk to staff, has anyone done this before?
Just want them to talk about home fire safety and so on, nothing too in depth...

As I'm only a young 'un, my journey is pretty short... I started life at Military College in Leicestershire, where I went on to University as an Officer Cadet... Decided to leave as the SDSR was kicking in and my branch was closing up and they were making redundancies. Got a job as an EHS Apprentice...

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE! I have returned from West Africa without any nasty stuff (hopefully). Total mess as Port Harcoirt had a curfew due to elections so I had a 12 hour wait in the airport. 37 hours with no sleep :( Good week ahead; got the Step Change in Safety Summit on Thursday! Have an awesome ...

Audit - West Africa
Hi Folks, Jetting off to the heart of Africa tomorrow morning to do a HSE Audit on one of our agents over there. Obviously I can't use a 14001/18001 checklist as they aren't accredited to this, I was looking online for a Legal Compliance register for the country to audit against but that's been unsu...
