Re: SSOW, SOP's, Method Statements, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures etc.

If you have an instruction on how to do the job, you would assume, maybe wrongly, that it will be the safe method. Hopefully the instruction will have been written by a team comprising of relevant personnel.

Re: Responsible Person Legionella course

I have the benefit of having had legionella risk assessments from a 3rd party available, this is just to "train" our responsible people on their duties as far as legionella is concerned. I was going to take a course first to being me up to speed and then recommend the course to our senior managers e...

Re: Behavioural Safety Courses?

Yes, all the modules are online (tip, make notes as you go along) and this has a small "test" at the end of each module based on what was presented. The end module is the scoring test where it is made up of a selection of these mini test questions.

Responsible Person Legionella course

Hi all, I am wondering if any of you can recommend a Responsible Person Legionella course in Scotland. I have seen a few through searching with a lot of variety of course content including a 2-3 hr online one (all the classroom ones are 2 day so that left me wondering the validity of it.) thanks in ...

Re: Talking about Mental Health

I attended IOSH Scotland Conference last week and found the keynote speaker, Martin Coyd, Mace Group, an amazing speaker. He is a champion of mental health in construction and, to be honest, was mesmerised by his talk. I am looking into a mental health first aider course.

Re: New job advice

Hi Skip 1234, Congratulations first of all Will. Now, 24 breaches in the last year and they only want someone in 2 days a week, there is your first issue. Senior Management either don't want to or can't understand what their responsibilities are with regard to HSE. I do not envy your role to be hone...

Re: H&S best practice

Its also a good visual for the posters if you can get before and after pictures. Much like a "5S" approach. easier to get your point across. Start by taking loads of pics of areas you are going to tackle and then over time once you improve the areas take the after pics. Place the posters in the area...

Re: H&S of travelling workers

I think that consulting the FCO (Foreign & Commonwealth Office) website for the latest information is essential, depending on the location of course. There are some countries I have travelled to where our company would not allow expats to drive and would have a local meet us and drive to our locatio...
