Re: RORO Risk Assessment

PM me, I can provide you one but you will have to adapt. Make sure you have the operational procedures in place, vehicle operating instructions, training etc. The vehicle is one aspect of the operation but the bins themselves are the most common cause of incidents. RoRo drivers commonly ram the hook...

Re: Mentoring List

Some may not remember a Moderator on here called Gladiator, when I started studying for my NEBOSH he in a way mentored me. I never visited his work and was not always on the phone to him but effectively “he was there if needed” When I got my first job interview he coached me through and I got the jo...

Re: Farming once again high on the list

Re: Finding Advisors for new positions

Is it the package? The company? Shifts? Or is it the quality of the person applying? I’m intrigued as I was approached last week by an agency representing a for a very large company in Birmingham and I was told that they are struggling to fill 2 gaps and at a £50 grand a year I wondered why. Transpi...

Re: Safety observation v near miss

Pretty much what Andy said, it’s about behaviours, observe someone working and note the positives and opportunities for improvement but I always insist they focus on both the positives and negative and when debriefing the employee always starting with the positives. I always get frustrated when peop...

Re: battery disposal or Recycling

A couple of links below but if you google there is times of stuff on it. The amount of fires caused in the waste industry from there is huge. All our permits state that it isn’t just batteries that have to be stored from the elements but WEEE, it’s one of the batteries classed as gas waste. https://...

Re: Site Waste management plan and policy

If you are new to the Environment part of SHEQ then the waste management plan is a great place to start as you can use this list to build up what needs waste transfer notes and what needs consignment.

Don’t forget to do your Duty of Care checks on the carriers and disposal points.
