Re: Dynamic leadership ideas

Hi Mike,
If you are focusing on Health, would it be possible to put your advisors on a mental health first aid course. I found it very informative and it did make me look at what I could do to support colleagues and give them an outlet to speak to when needed.

Re: Offshore Oil & Gas grime STINKS !!

Hi launchit, I don't know how many people on here can honestly say that their company ethics are geared towards an H&S Nirvana. A lot of companies certainly talk the talk, but in reality, "HSE does not make the company profit, operations do" is the actual mantra. I did once work for a company which ...

Re: HAVS Gloves

I am of the same opinion as WillPool
I was informed they are not regarded as a control measure, they only keep hands warmer.

Re: SSOW, SOP's, Method Statements, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures etc.

If you have an instruction on how to do the job, you would assume, maybe wrongly, that it will be the safe method. Hopefully the instruction will have been written by a team comprising of relevant personnel.

Re: Responsible Person Legionella course

I have the benefit of having had legionella risk assessments from a 3rd party available, this is just to "train" our responsible people on their duties as far as legionella is concerned. I was going to take a course first to being me up to speed and then recommend the course to our senior managers e...

Re: Behavioural Safety Courses?

Yes, all the modules are online (tip, make notes as you go along) and this has a small "test" at the end of each module based on what was presented. The end module is the scoring test where it is made up of a selection of these mini test questions.

Re: Talking about Mental Health

I attended IOSH Scotland Conference last week and found the keynote speaker, Martin Coyd, Mace Group, an amazing speaker. He is a champion of mental health in construction and, to be honest, was mesmerised by his talk. I am looking into a mental health first aider course.
