Fork Lift truck prestart checks

HI I manage the FLT's and drivers on our site. I am looking at coming away from the physical prestart check card the tick before every shift to a electronic version which built into the truck. What is the actual legislation, guidance and best practice with pre start checks. I can duplicate all the q...

RIDDOR question

Good morning.
We employ a weekend shift who do not work mon-fri.
One of the operatives fell and hurt her side.

She is not due back in until Sat but how does RIDDOR apply here?
Do her off days count towards the RIDDOR and how is this verified?

Oil Storage

HI I am in the midst of an ISO14001 audit, we have had the accreditation since 2009 and until today we have had the same external auditor. We also have a group wide external consultancy who informs us of all legal changes and updates and maintains our legal register. On site we have a 4500 litre die...

Plastic lined paper food bag

HI I work for a very large food conglomerate and a lot of our dry seasonings are imported using 25kg paper bags which are lined with a plastic "inner" sleeve. I am having a nightmare disposing of them, until recently our waste broker permitted them to be baled along with the card but now w...

Business case for Nebosh Diploma

HI My present role is waste and environmental officer, as well as ISO14001 internal auditor. I have my Environmental Nebosh Diploma and I want and need the H&S one. I just narrowly missed out on a promotion to sire SHE manager, the sole reason I didn't get it was because I didn't have the Nebosh...

Re: Waste Transfer notes

Thanks for both your answers.

We have always signed the WTN at the security lodge here but a new standard is being introduced that the group leaders and team leaders have to sign them. This issue being is that the G/L's and T/L's are not trained or familiar with different waste types and procedures.

Waste Transfer notes

HI

Just a quick question. Whom can sign waste transfer notes?
The large site in question generates roughly 40 tonnes of cat 3 waste per week and there is a issue around who can and cannot sign the transfer note.

Thanks in advance.

Person Lifting Cage on a FLT

Good Morning. We have an issue that needs clarification here at work. We have a site service team at work, part of their duties is to fix things at height. We have all the permits and these guys are all trained at working at heights and the use of the lifting cage to lift people. The problem emerged...

Hellequin

Thanks for the reply, very interseted in the point about extra personnel. Thats a path we may go along if the management force us to stop using our horns (which I am vehemently against on a blind corner)
