Re: EMC Chamber Door

Ha ha! I don't think I would get away with that, but I'd love to!

I can't find anything else on it, probably because it is not an issue most of the time. Signage is a good point though, so will look at that as well as a quick guide to use of the chamber door. The things we do :)

EMC Chamber Door

Hi folks, I am wondering if anyone can help. We have an EMC chamber, which has no issues, but the door being a chamber door is very large and takes a bit of momentum to open. There have been a couple of incidents with folks twisting and having back issues so I've been asked to put together a best pr...

Re: Risk assessments on pregnant people

We have a new and expectant mother procedure, guidance and risk assessment. An initial one is carried out upon notification and then monthly reviews as done as the pregnancy progresses and needs may change, including a DSE assessment if they are a computer user. It hasn't formed part of our main ris...

Re: Gas Fire Training

Thanks both. The idea is that we don't send anyone to deal with a potential fire as such, but the emergency preparedness around it. So, dealing with isolating the gas, having the right fire protection in place initially as so to mitigate spread etc., barriers so we prevent contact with the vessels (...

Gas Fire Training

We had an inspection recently about our LPG storage and one of the recommendations given due to the quantities involved were that the maintenance staff should have more training on gas fires and emergency procedures. I've done a bit of looking around, but can't see anything specific to that type of ...

Knife and Blade Safety

Hi all, I hope everyone is well. I have been asked to do a bulletin / awareness poster for knife and blade safety and the boss wants me to include a section on types of knives / blades for the job they are suitable for. I have looked and looked and can't find anything anywhere that displays this kin...

Re: Nebosh fire safety risk management book

I used this book as well and it was brilliant. I also put together a load of revision flash cards to give you a quick reference guide and studying as I went through the book and took out all the major parts I needed to learn for the exam. If you want them, PM me and I'd be happy to send them. I did ...

Re: Pedestrian Walkway around an active yard

The only issue with yellow hatching is that it's meant to denote not parking areas, but if you get a busy car park, people will use these areas (seen it many times). White lines, broad yellow with people signs is a much clearer message that it's meant for people, not vehicles in any way, shape or fo...

Re: Young Person's In The Work Place

Also consider if there are any periods that he could be working alone with someone else. I would guess if you work within a school environment, you would have to have had CRB checks done? I know we have to ensure that we have them done if there is a likelihood that the young person (usually work exp...

IEMA Certificate

All, I enrolled to do the IEMA certificate year before last. I had just started to do the course, when my daughter became critically ill and I had to give up any after work studying and time out of work to provide care for her. Now she's much better, I am in a position to start again but my two year...

Re: Footwear policy for office based employees

We have mostly office area, but do have an test area / warehouse type area on site. It's a mix of safety shoes required and normal shoes. We have had a few accidents involving high heels with trips down stairs, heels slipping etc, but don't have a general footwear policy although we do specify shoe ...
