RIDDOR
Quick question to which I THINK I already know the answer.
Member of our staff had a suspected epileptic fit (this has not been confirmed by a doctor) and as a result fell and broke his hip.
Is this reportable under RIDDOR?
Thank you in anticipation
Dave

Re: RIDDOR
Thank you for all of the responses.
I reported it and will be sending a copy to the customer and the host centre. Something tells me that the accident will come as a complete surprise to them. (bangs head against brick wall!)

Re: RIDDOR
I am very well. Trying hard to get my enthusiasm for H&S back. It has been a tough couple of years.

Re: Evacuation Chair Training
I would ensure that you train each of your first aiders, fire wardens and those who are mentioned in the PEEP at least annually to refresh. I would also make sure that anyone who needs assistance is available when you do the drills (obvious but you would be amazed at how often it doesn't happen). A ...

RIDDOR
HI Guys We install point of sale equipment at stores around the country and use self-employed fitters to do the work. Whilst on site, one of the fitters fell off the back of a tail lift and broke his elbow, hand chipped a bone in his wrist. It is absolutely reportable, but who. Me, the customer, or ...

Re: Fire collar fitting
I have only ever seen them on the horizonal or vertical too. I cannot see that there is much of an issue as long as the mastic used to seal the area is intumescent. I am sure the fire experts will be able to provide more specialist guidance

Re: Safety Data Sheet resource?
That is my thought too Stephen. Like risk assessments there are as many versions of COSHH assessments as there are H&S professionals!

Re: Reviewing CCTV Footage
We have some CCTV on site and it is only used as an investigative tool and only then with the agreement of a director. In previous roles it has been used to check up on people but this is not something I would ever agree to. CCTV has its uses within the workplace, for me spying on people is not one ...

Re: RIDDOR Reporting and COVID
I am reviewing the accident reporting procedure following a change in our group reporting policy and I have stated that COVID does not need to be reported under RIDDOR for precisely the reasons stated above.

The manufacturer has to produce the safety data sheet and will send them to you FOC.

Re: Short Covid Desk Screens?
We have screens around our desks. They are a clear plastic screen attached by velcro to a white metal frame and are approximately 1.8m tall. Each bank of 4 desks is separated by what is effectively a screen cross with the end of each desk equally screened off. When you are in your pod, you do not ha...
