Re: Safety Data Sheet resource?
That is my thought too Stephen. Like risk assessments there are as many versions of COSHH assessments as there are H&S professionals!

Re: Reviewing CCTV Footage
We have some CCTV on site and it is only used as an investigative tool and only then with the agreement of a director. In previous roles it has been used to check up on people but this is not something I would ever agree to. CCTV has its uses within the workplace, for me spying on people is not one ...

Re: RIDDOR Reporting and COVID
I am reviewing the accident reporting procedure following a change in our group reporting policy and I have stated that COVID does not need to be reported under RIDDOR for precisely the reasons stated above.

The manufacturer has to produce the safety data sheet and will send them to you FOC.

Re: Short Covid Desk Screens?
We have screens around our desks. They are a clear plastic screen attached by velcro to a white metal frame and are approximately 1.8m tall. Each bank of 4 desks is separated by what is effectively a screen cross with the end of each desk equally screened off. When you are in your pod, you do not ha...

Re: safety committee meetings
We have furloughed a good number of our staff and 95% of our office staff are now working from home. What we have done is to put the committee on hold for the time being and not actually hold formal meetings. With so few people on site I am spending more time walking the floor and talking (at a safe...

Re: How many of us are still at our work locations?
Still at work but struggling to understand why. The problem we have is that some of our biggest customers still want products developing, updating and manufactured despite the stores we would install into are all closed.

Re: Monday - 13 January 2020
Morning one and all Chilly morning but i woke up so that is a bonus. I have been in the office since 0630 and only had one stupid phone call. Apparently it is a safety issue that a bike is chained to a fence, no escape routes are blocked, emergency access to the site is perfectly clear, but it is so...

Re: Daily life of a H&S Professional
Post Script
The other day I sent a reviewed H&S policy to my MD expecting him to agree with what I have written and and send it back. What I did not expect was for him to actively amend and improve the document. I am over the moon!

Re: Daily life of a H&S Professional
I think for most of us our daily work life is often summed up in one word - frustrating! I am the H&S Manager for a point of sale manufacturer in the East Midlands. I am a team of one reporting to the Head of Manufacturing and to the MD. Over the last year or so my role has expanded to include w...

Re: Audit documentation
For me, if there is a review of the document and no changes are made then I expect to see evidence of this review but no change to the document issue number. If the review results in changes, other than a font type or size, then the document issue number should change and the document re-signed. As ...

More Frustration
AAAGGGGGHHHHH Just had a visit from a manager to tell me that there is water on the floor, no signs, nobody has cleared it up, nothing. Not quite sure why he could't clear the little bit of water that was there and put a caution triangle in place to warn people or ask the team leaders working in the...
