Re: IOSH CPD

Many thanks Berni, Your reply summed it up for me perfectly, Thanks. Regards the use of the word drone, it was their choice not mine and I agree it's definitely a dumbing down of their activities. The post I pasted into this thread is more representative of something I have an interest in and intend...

Re: IOSH CPD

Hi, so I need a bit of guidance, I am currently a member of IOSH and am now looking to transfer to tech (I submitted the form and certs yesterday). I started updating my cpd a few months ago and used it more as a diary than anything else but obviously if i'm upgraded to tech it becomes compulsory. I...

Re: recsue plan for scissor lifts

You can use the IPAF template provided above for the rescue plan but I have some concern about your fall arrest. If he is using a scissor lift with a fixed guardrail system then he doesn't necessarily have to be wearing a harness at all (depending on the RA of course), my concern however is the use ...

Re: Preventing access by children to construction site

hi berni, thanks for the information, the occupiers liability act pretty much blows his argument out of the water regarding getting sued. your pretty much going to lose any civil claim. I suppose the question is now, how far would you have to go to avoid prosecution by the HSE if a child trespasser ...

Preventing access by children to construction site

Hi all I have a little problem and i was wondering if the wealth of knowledge on here could help me out a bit. Firstly a bit of background. This is a site that is scheduled for demolition, it was formerly used as an office block and is in a city centre location opposite a public house. work currentl...

Re: Bit of advice needed

No I don't think they do. I think gradIOSH demonstrates further knowledge and additional commitment so I think gradIOSH means more, to a person and to an employer. It shows you have pursued H&S and not done the basics only. That is pretty much what i figured, which is why im considering taking ...

Re: Work after completing NEBOSH

I can only echo the sentiments of everyone above, jobs are few and far between especially in construction. I passed the NCC last year and am yet to have an interview for a H+S position. I have seen peeps on this board offering their services for free in exchange for experience and still not getting ...

Re: Bit of advice needed

Laura, I would consider the jump between tech and grad to be more than a sidestep, im aware that i would have to complete a degree level qualification but would it be worth it? If I were to get accepted and complete the MSC Occupational safety and health then I would arguably be close to the top of ...

Re: Bit of advice needed

Hi Don't want to discourage, but at the moment there are plenty of experience H&S people around looking for jobs, just as in other professions. So not a surprise that other more experienced people are getting there first. Later on in the day the company's own H+S adviser turned up and condemned...
