Re: Supervision of a Subcontractor on site whilst being PC

In my experience the PC is the duty holder and typically will have submitted the F10.

I would be cautious about allowing my teams to work if the PC wasn’t on site (or at least had some representation).

First aid cover, suitable supervision, insurance as basic starting points.

Re: Excavator operator certification

It would likely depend where the excavator was to be used and the requirements of the site.

Many sites will request CPCS (now NOCN) or NPORS. Smaller sites often accept manufacturer training. If it is suitable and sufficient and in line with national standards then why would it not be acceptable.

Re: RIDDOR - who reports?

I’m with Stephen on this. I have had to report in the past (as a subcontractor) and the main contractor couldn’t have been any further from the reporting responsibility. It will generally be laid out in contract documents that the employer makes the report with copies provided to the MC within x num...

Re: PPE for Wildfires

Thought this also. RPE was worn by some, varying degrees of upper body by some etc. Not quite sure on fire brigade protocol in these situations but would expect full body coverage owing to risk of burns etc

If so then the MEWP may not be designed to take the loading of the operative falling (and inertia reel en...

Some good links there. I'm not sure if I would be brave enough to challenge in court though

on the odd occasion on smaller sites i have been asked to mark MEWP positions on a lifting plan but I think it is really just to make sure we are working in areas with ground conditions conducive to plant

Re: PTS - help! - first step on a long hard ladder

Evening all

Fletcher, thanks very much for the advice, I got hold of a PTS booklet online for a quick skim and asked a few guys in a network rail van how things go! Looking forward to it thankfully.

Cheers!!
