Re: Lone Worker - apps, devices for small charity

Yes! This is a great app and I circulated it to the team a couple of weeks ago.

Lone Worker - apps, devices for small charity

Hi all We have a few colleagues who travel solo to events and we use a buddy system for them. Where they don't have a nominated person, their line manager acts as buddy but as we grow, we're finding that being on call all weekend and out of hours is getting a bit unreasonable and we're looking to fi...

Re: Do any of your use & recommend any e-learning for DSE/Manual Handling Compliance etc?

Thanks for the response - Wendolene - most helpful. Essex - our home based workers represent us in the regions and go to lots of events where they are transporting boxes of print, exhibition kit, putting up banners and whatnot. I've never been much of a fan of CBT so have discounted it for a while -...

Do any of your use & recommend any e-learning for DSE/Manual Handling Compliance etc?

Hi all We have an increasingly dispersed team with new offices in regions and lots of home-based workers. It's getting difficult and expensive to send everyone on courses in their local areas (don't get bulk discounts for a course in-house) and I wondered if I could look at alternative routes that w...

Risk Assessment for Standing Desks

Hi all I'm potentially being really lazy but I wondered if anyone had conducted an RA for a standing desk in an office environment and would be happy to share? I'm thinking of incorrectly adjusted for height, not changing posture frequently between sitting/standing, inappropriate footwear, insuffice...

Re: DSE for people who work from home (not homeworkers)

Thanks for replying, Alexis - I think this falls through the crack in the middle of it being the employees request to work from home, and the employer specifying the place of work as the home. Does your employer expect you to set up your home arrangements at your cost as a condition of being able to...

DSE for people who work from home (not homeworkers)

Hi all I wondered what line you took for DSE assessments where someone has a flexible work arrangement to say, work from home one or two days a week? I have someone who has completed an assessment for their home which is a requirement for agreeing to the arrangement but they have said they use a lap...

Re: Pregnant workers - what do we need to do

FS1982 - great observation and you make perfect sense! Whilst we are not inherently a sector where there are hazardous chemicals or substances, there can be roles where manual handling might be a risk to someone who is in the very early stages of (known or unknown) pregnancy. I'll investigate our pr...

Re: Getting on with NCRQ? Interested, though prices gone up!

Thanks for the response, Laura - I'm quite keen to give it a go but haven't responded well to distance learning before but there is something different about the offer which I think I'm quite interested in exploring. How are you finding the time requirement? Looks like I'll be finding the cash someh...

Getting on with NCRQ? Interested, though prices gone up!

Hi all I'm interested in the NCRQ Diploma and wondered how people were getting on with it? I do prefer to study in classroom environments but wanted to find out if it was lots and lots of reading on theory? I've missed the boat on the prices - they've all just gone up to £450+vat per module...erk! R...

Travel/Lone working RA - Data Protection & Contact Details

Hi all I'm updating all of our risk assessments to give them a familiar look and process flow as far as possible. When looking at the travel and the lone working RAs, it's felt that if someone hasn't contacted their manager (or whoever) to let us know they've arrived at their planned location then a...
