Thanks so far folks. It's marine diesel. The organic vapour masks were what we were going to suggest also. If they are in for a prolonged period, i.e greater than 2 hours we will utilise BA or a batter powered air fed helmet. If less the mask will suffice, does this seem reasonable? Thanks again An...

Hi Andy, Is this heavy oil? or DERV or Red/ Marine? The gas detectors on the market for diesel are in relation to flammability and not health. An organic vapour filter would prevent diesel vapours from being inhaled. Speak to the filter manufacturer for your face masks and they can advise you. REf t...

No, the legislation is a UK Satutory Instrument and therefore still law. I doubt we will repeal any legislation but it will be interesting to see what happens going foward.

Yep, near miss reporting is one of the few stats that I find are of help in prevention.
