Re: Emergency Lighting

Thanks folks.

Messy - it's as part of a wider ongoing audit.

We have records for the monthly tests and our own electricians supply a report on the annual discharge test. I'll send them off and see what we get back.

All the best!

Emergency Lighting

Morning everyone! One for the Fire Safety specialists................. We check & test our emergency lighting in our buildings every month. Along with this our electricians (all suitably experienced and qualified), do an annual 3 hour run down to check battery back ups. If there are any faults n...

Re: A topic for discussion!

Hi Agree with Jonsi & Zman completely. How many of you then produce your own risk assessment covering these works (be honest)? No, we don't. If they are suitable and sufficient, why repeat them? Before work commences, we issue site rules, have a site induction (for new contractors), highlight an...

Re: COSHH - food ingredients

Hi there Good question! One of the commonly overlooked areas, IMHO. Substances hazardous to health in baking include: flour dust, improver dusts containing enzymes etc, dusts from protein-containing ingredients such as egg & soya, spices, citrus oils and flavour concentrates and cleaning/disinfe...

Re: health & safety management systems

Hi Paul I've used the HSE's model of 'Plan Do Check Act' in a variety of settings. I've found it clear, easy to use, jargon free (in the main) and you can adapt it to suit your needs. It replaced POPIMAR as the model (HSG65). You can find out more here: http://www.hse.gov.uk/managing/plan-do-check-a...

Re: RIDDOR Question

Hi there

If he doesn't return, yes, you need to report, but bear in mind it's over 7 days, so the day after tomorrow would be the trigger date.

Cheers .salut

Re: CDM 2015 - Construction Phase Plan

Thanks Coldrop Yeah got L153 when it came out. I think it was the definition of 'construction' that caused the discussion. We have a three tier system for such 'projects': small/minor works we request RAMS & provide our site rules/control of contractors docs, medium sized works the same, but wit...

CDM 2015 - Construction Phase Plan

Hi folks - quick question. We use single external contractors for some of our routine maintenance/fitting out work and have been asking them for a construction phase plan i.e. for repainting the main foyer of our main offices or fitting out bathrooms/wc's etc, as this is how I have interpreted the r...
