Re: DSEAR

Hi, yes is does: https://www.hse.gov.uk/fireandexplosion/dsear-background.htm From June 2015 DSEAR also covers the risk caused by gases under pressure and substances that are corrosive to metals. DSEAR

Apologies as this is not my forte

Is a DSEAR RA required for plant rooms based on the use of natural gas / gas under pressure / boilers etcetera? I get the impression that this is the case but would like further guidance from those in the know!

Roll Call / Fire Safety Signing In / Out

Okay, I am interested to get others views on this subject. This could apply to many working environments but I am specifically interested in places of work that have over 100 people on site at any one time and are situated in densely populated areas / towns etcetera (however feel free to chip in eve...

Masters

Hi I am considering doing a Masters in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental and wondered if anyone else has completed this. What’s your feedback on the course and out of interest, why did you do the Masters? Also what reading materials are utilised, so that I can look to do some pre reading...

Re: Training for Trustees

Thanks ddlh

I have to say that I arranged for our senior leadership team to complete the SfEaD and they found it extremely helpful, however they are more hands on and therefore likely to understand the benefits.

Re: Training for Trustees

Thanks Andy

I have since found 'roles and responsibilities' training through ROSPA that may be suitable! 2 x 90 minute online sessions over a 48hr period - has anyone had experience of this course?

Training for Trustees

Hi All I am looking for a training course in H&S responsibilities awareness for Trustees of a large charity. The IOSH Safety for Executives and Directors would cover the majority of the information required BUT the Trustees are non-operational (meaning some of it would not be appropriate) and al...

Help

I head the H&S for a group of care homes across England and Wales and desperately need surgical masks for use by staff barrier nursing residents - Anyone know anyone who can assist?

CMIOSH

Is CMIOSH overused and over relied on to validate knowledge?

Does it give a false sense of security around practical application of the legislation?

Just wondered what other Safety professionals views were in the subject.

'Let Them Fall' policy

Right, here is the conundrum: Resident in a health care setting falls and the member of staff lets them, as they believe that this is the correct thing to do. I have an opinion on this but wanted to see what your organisation feels (if applicable) or your professional opinion is on this subject .......

CDM training

I have the following quals:
NCRQ Diploma
NVQ L5
NEBOSH General
NEBOSH fire

BUT I don't have anything formal for CDM and do NOT wish to undertake another full on course, any suggestions that would supplement what I already have or will I be best doing a full on qual?

Thx K
