Re: Sign-in Requirements
Thanks for this guys. I would also be really interesting to know why they do not want to sign in/out? The reason for not signing is that this individual firstly thinks he is above everyone else and secondly so he can fiddle his hours as no one when he arrives and leaves... Well a swift disciplinary...

Re: Sign-in Requirements
Messy has it spot on for me.
I would be interested to know the employee's reason for not signing in/out.

A broken nose should also be RIDDOR'd as a specified injury - fractures, other than to fingers, thumbs and toes - should it not?

Re: Screen dividers for the workplace
WE have used a company called XL Displays.
Good quality screens but they can take a wee while to arrive.

Re: Fire Prevention Plan - Water-gate Barrier
Thanks Merlot!
The website shows them down to 10m which would potentially work for us.
Certainly look like they would work better than what is currently proposed.

Re: Fire Prevention Plan - Water-gate Barrier
No worries Merlot. Our consultant has done another draft and I've found more problems with it. The water barriers are planned to be put in place where they don't stop water entering the foul aco drains across the entrances to the tipping floor, basically rendering them pointless. Then the retention ...

Re: Fire Prevention Plan - Water-gate Barrier
I am afraid I won't be of much help as, although I have experience of flood protection, I have never prepared a fire prevention plan for the EA such as this. Can I ask you why this is required? I am asking as I hope I haven't missed something!! Is your address in a sensitive environment (SSSSI?) or...

Fire Prevention Plan - Water-gate Barrier
Hi all, This is going to cross the Environmental and Fire areas of expertise I would imagine. We are currently in the process of putting together our Fire Prevention Plan to submit to the EA. We are working with a consultancy who have proposed using a Water-gate Barrier to control fire water run off...

Re: Health Surveillance vs GP question
I've had a similar incident through our audiometric testing. Employee was referred to GP by the Occupational Hygienist last year but the employee didn't go. The OH said at this years testing that there isn't much more they/we could do other than recommend they visit their GP and follow up the refera...

Re: Evacuator Fire Alarm
I would agree with Messy in that the description of the unit says they are only Suitable for construction sites, temporary spaces, camp sites, events and markets etc This to me says they are only to be used in areas that will only be inhabited on a temporary basis. Construction site would be dismant...

Re: COVID-19: COVID-19: UPDATED REPORTING GUIDANCE FOR EMPLOYERS
I disagree with how you are interpreting point 2. For me it is anyone who routinely comes into contact with potential COVID-19 in their day to day work, such as nurses, doctors, etc. and the high likelihood is they caught it at work. Otherwise companies at the moment would be reporting COVID-19 case...
