Re: Fork-lift refresher course
Thanks for your comprehensive reply WillPool. How did I find out? I did the refresher myself and this other person that was certified without attending wasn't in work and had taken annual leave. The manager told me what the trainer had done. I am afraid that the manager is an idiot. He stopped half-...

Fork-lift refresher course
At my place of work some employees were doing their fork-lift refresher course. On of the fork-lift drivers wasn't actually at work but the manager asked if the trainer would sign him off as having done it. The trainer agreed. Is that serious mal-practice on behalf of the manager? I would also say t...

Fire safety/prevention
Hi again, I am thinking of doing a Fire Safety kind of course. I know that Nebosh run one but I don't really want to do that. I have already done the Nebosh National General Certificate and I don't think I got that much out of it. I heard someone say that the Fire Service run some good courses but I...

Re: Short Term Exposure Limit
OK I contacted the company for the product Sodium Hypochlorite. This was my email to them. "Could you please tell me why your product Sodium hypochlorite 10-15% doesn't have a 8 hour exposure limit? It does have a short term exposure limit of 1.5 mg/m3. Thank you in advance. Would it be possibl...

Re: Short Term Exposure Limit
Thanks for that Waterbaby but I still haven't found out why a chemical should have a short term exposure limit but not an 8 hr one. It's usually the opposite.

Short Term Exposure Limit
I am looking at a chemical and it only has a short term exposure limit. I don't understand why it shouldn't also have an 8 hour exposure limit as well? Does that mean that you can only be exposed to it for 15 minutes maximum?

Re: Lone working policy
My place of work has a kind of 'dead-man' alarm which looks like a telephone. It's clipped onto the wearer's clothes and detects movement. If there's no movement for 2 minutes, then an alarm is raised.

Health and Safety Management System
If you were a Health and Safety Consultant and you were advising a business on how they should mitigate the hazards that they have in their workplace, I guess you would also advise them on how to implement a Health and Safety management system. Is there anywhere I may find an example or examples of ...
