Re: System to track attendance for fire emergency
I'm not sure if this is viable, but could a phone app give a precise location? I know neurowear can be picked up by a phone app, and Snap Map is used for stalking, but i don't know how accurate it is. i would have assumed that with today's technology you should be able to at least know if the person...

Re: safe assembly point
Originally I wrote a fire procedure on behalf of our company (I'm the go to guy for H&S), which had me leaving by the shortest route and assembling at the same point as the customers in the nearby square, but was later told by the shopping centre's security team that I wasn't doing it according ...

Re: Huge fire at tower block
Was the FRA reviewed and updated after the renovations? As I understand it, any risk assessment must be reviewed and updated if there is any change in circumstances - structual changes being a rather crucial one.

Re: Staff Register
To declare any system fool proof is to underestimate the ingenuity of fools. We use a visitors book - people sign in at the main entrance and sign out again when they leave. only they don't. They often forget to sign out, and occasionally forget to sign in. We have a rule that if you have to leave t...

Re: fire exit signage
If I had a pound for every time I've seen a vehicle parked directly in front of a clearly marked fire exit I would be rich. I don't mean on the curb five feet away, I mean within a foot or two making egress impossible. Delivery vehicles are the most common offenders - "Don't make a fuss - I'll ...

safe assembly point
I would appreciate other opinions on this subject, but I would like to point out that the situation is no longer an issue for me. until a couple of years ago our shop was within a shopping centre, so the established Fire Procedure was not up to me - however if it were I would have done things very d...

Re: Knowing when to give up
I sometimes wonder why I bother. higher ups quibble over what's financially viable, and how likely is such and such to happen, whilst the people I'm trying to protect don't even bother to read the risk assessments. But I don't give up, because to me Health and Safety is a passion. I first started wo...

hello
Hi Health and Safety is really a secondary role for me, but I've been writing the Risk Assessments at the small re-use / recycling charity I work at for about ten years now, and writing the COSHH assessments for two years. I also create the building plans and pretty much take care of most of the Hea...

I was doing a search on definitions of dynamic risk assessments and your site came up.
