Re: Did you vote?

Thank you for your vote - thats really kind of you. and, thank you for answering my questions, I agree that the IOSH meetings do not feel accessible and do need to change, i find that this has improved over lock down but there is still alot to go. CMIOSH does, in my opinion hold alot of sway in com...

Re: Did you vote?

To answer your question I did vote, for you, as a matter of fact. I only voted as I remembered your post on the forum. Like witsd, I find IOSH to be an organisation that I struggle to define a purpose for beyond it's artful collection of membership fees and training income. I don't believe any of th...

Re: So i have a NEBOSH diploma - what should I do next training wise

You could consider a Masters, either through the NEBOSH affiliated universities or elsewhere. I find the learning level is poor compared to the Diploma on safety but if it's a mixed environmental one it can be interesting to balance out the repetition and cover new topics. A natural progression migh...

Re: Record Keeping/Site Diary safety equivalent

Thanks guys for your advice. I hadn't actually used a formal action tracker up to now, but I think it would be a good way of keeping everyone accountable during the collecting up of issues from observations and phone calls. I'm banging in the emails but I'd like to have something central to help ens...

Re: Record Keeping/Site Diary safety equivalent

EagleBeagle that would be some task to record everything your doing on daily basis, I would be interested to know if anyone does this Well, significant activities in terms of things observed and basically accounting for your day from the point of view of being read by an observer who may not be fam...

Record Keeping/Site Diary safety equivalent

I'm reasonably familiar with safety management systems and the type of registers, records, etc. that would need to be retained and managed. However does anyone have any experience in terms of systematically documenting what they're doing as a H&S professional on a daily basis for the purposes of...

Re: Giving up on a company

Thanks for your support everyone. It's reassuring to know that I'm not alone and that most H&S folk have come across these sort of situations at some point in their careers and that I appear to have been taking the right approach in terms of doing the right thing in terms of continuing to make t...

Re: New NEBOSH Fire Certificate course

I personally didn't find the NEBOSH gen cert examines particularly bad. Yes you've got to answer in certain way but if you know the subject... In saying that, i know some on the course with me did struggle. One guy struggled to write and literally failed as he physically couldn't write the answers ...

Re: Giving up on a company

There is only so long you can bang your head against the brick wall! I would ensure that it can be seen that you have tried to make improvements and change in the event of an unfortunate incident. Keep plugging away but I would also be looking for another role. I had a similar thing at a company i ...

Re: New NEBOSH Fire Certificate course

To be fair NEBOSH are only changing because they have been put under pressure from NCRQ, i'm guessing that they have lost quite a bit of business and have decided to try and stem the flow of lost business. I have a foot in both camps, and although I have the NCRQ Diploma I do feel that I have misse...

Re: Giving up on a company

Sometimes hard decisions have to be made. For my 2 Penneth, if you are the H&S role, it could be a case of a final burst of communication with the owners. Do you know why they ( owners/ top management)have no interest. I can understand that their example might well filter through to,others. Do ...

Giving up on a company

Is there ever a time to "give up" on seeking meaningful improvements within a company when health and safety is effectively ignored but where you're not in a position to hand in your resignation nor whistleblow? As an example of severity, the scenario would involve: Zero management commitm...
