Re: Compliance thoughts

Who receives the texts and what do they do with them? Or are they sent but not checks until the following morning / day? Do they really serve a purpose?

Re: Compliance thoughts

Management could review which need to be done and which are a nicety - is it overly bureaucratic? What happens to end of shift texts? Presumably they are received by someone. Be proactive, rather than wait pats an expected finish time, call the worker as a welfare check, look at telematics, Thee wil...

Re: tool box talk - driving with a hand held device

There will already be some bits to hand - the company’s procedures and discipline process for drivers using them, and staff calling drivers who they know are driving ( assuming no phone use policy). Loads of Incan videos on line.

Re: TFL accident report form

However, if they do nothing with the report, it makes no difference, and if you wanted something to happen, you can check and challenge the contents. Remember that they don't need to show you the report even if you were to make a claim, or at least not until things have progressed a bit.

Sounds like a good outcome all round - thanks for the update.

Re: TFL accident report form

As mentioned above, no requirement to share the initial accident report or any subsequent findings. Even a FOI request may result in little or no info as they may retain it "in anticipation of legal action", or significantly redacted it, and ironically that would be redacting your details,...

Re: Angle Grinder Discs

That looks like a thin but quite large diameter disc. Presumably for metal cutting. On the face of it, the disc seems suited to the grinder, not sure how much rpm excess beyond the grinder’s speed would be needed. I’m sure you have, I might explore what it was used for and how it was being used as m...

Re: Forklift Sign In/Out

Be practical, is it allocated to the operator all shift or is it used for a few minutes / hour by lots of opertors during the day? Presumably the keys are held in a secure point to be issued - typically a key cupboard in the office or issued by a supervisor depending on the set up. Are we sure a pre...

Re: Torque Wrench - new but when opened was last calibrated in 2017

Interesting idea that it’s cheaper to buy new. Is it a “cheaper” wrench or perhaps the caLibration is too expensive! Most garage workshops manage to get them calibrated annually, but they are quite an expensive asset. If they are not used a lot, so the need the check annually or perhaps push it to 2...

Re: TBT - Why raise safety observations and hazard spots

To have any real value, I’d make it relevant to the audience so related to their industry or circumstances. As a TBT, it would be short and sweet, so probably as easy to do it in-house

Re: Any motorbike riders?

I know a rider who does the endurance long distance stuff and has the app your thinking off, and it worked when he came off in the wilds of Scotland and it notified his family who sent help. I can't remember its name, but they are out there.

Some quick replies and answered in reverse orde which may make sense 5. No fleet Ins- makes things easy so all driving currently in private or hire cars that have Ins included - can be costly to have business use cover depending on your business 4. No policy - appreciate the want to put things in pl...
