Hi all,
Happy New Year!
We have carried out a review of our production line layouts and identified none of the conveyor belts have emergency stops on them. All nip points are guarded and staff do not work at conveyor joins.
Are emergency stops still required as a just in case?
Thanks in advance.

Sprinkler water tanks
Hi all, The company I work for has a large water storage tank which is used the sprinkler system (approximately 480m3). Part of the weekly checks as determined by the FPA and insurance company is for use to send someone up the caged ladder to check the ball valve. Other than working at height and la...

Re: Pigeon Droppings
Hi Londonblue, Like you I couldn't find anything directly relating to this on the HSE so I would certainly ask them to reference where the HSE has stated this, may be a learning opportunity for us  As you mentioned, this seems to be more of a contract issue and whether there is a clause that th...

Re: Forklift Sign In/Out
I agree with what Andy has already mentioned. First and foremost you would need to understand what you're trying to achieve with a sign in/out system and thus determine how efficient it will be. I've seen clients where each driver is assigned a coloured key with their name on it whereas I've also se...

ISO Guidance
Hi all,
In my quest for knowledge on ISO 45001, 18001 and 9001 I found the following website which has a wealth of guidance on the three ISO systems which may come in handy for some of you.

QHSE Roles & development
Hi all, I'm keen to explore the Health and Safetys 'other halves' so to speak in terms of Environment and Quality. I notice a vast number of roles out there combine the three so for my own development I'd like to pursue the other two further. Is anyone in a similar role or has experience that could ...

Re: Management review meeting - what the best way people do this?
No problem at all, To be honest I haven't delved much into the ISO's however generally speaking (and referring to the HSG65 MS) I would plan out the meeting prior to look at the trends in the last six months, what issues H&S issues were raised, are RAMS on track, have policies been followed, aud...

Re: H&S / IMS policy - what are the must have elements that it must contain?
Hello, If I've understood the question correctly then I suppose it would depend on the individual IMS accreditation body as to what it must contain. Generally speaking from a HSG65 (HSE standard) it should have the usual Statement of Intent, Responsibilities and Arrangements. If you're IMS is ISO th...

Re: Management review meeting - what the best way people do this?
Hello, I always find spinning these types of meetings so that you become the 'listener' rather than the talker. I would normally facilitate the meeting and start off by explaining the purpose and likely outcomes. I'd then move onto asking some general open questions on how health and safety is perce...
