Re: Good Friday 18 April 2025
A bit of grey day here in W London, but the sun is trying to say hello.
I have been busy with some legal stuff this morning and trying to gain access to online legal docs has given me a headache. It seems like I have been locked out so no progress possible until Tuesday. Maybe I should have asked ...

Re: Smoke detection in ceiling
Hi Paul
I must stress I am not a fire alarm engineer, designer or frankly am I competent in FD design - neither have I access to BS 5839-1 any more, but I have got some notes that I used to keep with me for reference
My understanding is for a small apex of up to 600mm in height, you can treat the ...

Bright sunny but windy here in London.
I have a redundant TV aerial that's decided to wobble noisily overnight which I could have done without 😕. I need to acknowledge my age and competence levels in regards working from a roof ladder, so will subby the removal of the ariel I think

Damp and grey in London after a rainy night - the first drop of rain for a very long time as Scotland keep hogging it all for themselves 🤔😉
It's scuppered my gardening plans but it's has to be better than dust !!
Good luck with your assignment Willpool. Talk about leaving it to the last minute. I ...

Morning all ( but only just Morning!)
I have spent the morning suit shopping, as curiously my small collection of suits have both shrunk since I retired 🤔.
I feel like I have run 3 ultra marathons separated by 12 hour night shifts and am refuelling my exhausted body with a cuppa before making my ...

Don't forget whether the person can hear the fire alarm sounder, especially at times when they are alone (late working/in the loo)

Morning all
Beautiful and sunny here in London only spoilt by the noise of the ongoing stock market crash 15 miles up the road in the city 😡
I have a busy day doing paperwork but will see my grandson later for a game of garden football if I can keep up 🤔
Good luck with your achilles injury ...

Re: Signage over emergency lighting
What are you trying to achieve with the EL bulkhead light?
If you want to achieve illuminated directional signage, then stickers over the light can be effective if they let enough light thru
But if you are attempting to provide wayfinder emergency lighting to illuminate a circulation space - say ...

Re: Office off canteen
I agree with Witsd that you need to review your FRA to take account of the new layout and in particular, the inner room situation
Purists would argue that as escaping from an office thru a canteen is arguably low thru high risk, it can't be permitted.
But - call me old fashioned - assessing risk ...

Sunny and warm in east Anglia today - but breezy
My retirement plans have slipped a bit as I am helping out on a two day major exercise. I didn't realise it would involve so much walking as I have chalked up 8,500 steps so far today setting it up and now enjoying a well deserved breakfast
