Can an employer charge for PPE?

The answer to this is Section 9 of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, and it's pretty clear (to me anyway). But. My company has a safety shoe reimbursement policy whereby it will pay up to £35 for safety footwear (as an example) for anything not on the approved list; or will allow individua...

Re: Work at Height query

Thanks for the replies. I gave a bad example of the scissor lift. What I want to know is, can a safety belt with lanyard be used when working at height, or should a full harness be worn? I can't find anything definitive online.

Work at Height query

Are safety belts permissible for working at height i.e. in a scissor lift, or should a full harness and fall restraint lanyard used?
I have trawled through the Work at Height Regulations 2005 but cannot find anything definitive.

Many thanks.

Re: Help

I would suggest using a scissor lift MEWP to gain access, however be aware of the weight limitations if handballing stock onto it. And obviously correct training for the operators.

Re: NVQ Lv 5 Vs NCRQ Lv 6

I have just completed the NCRQ L6 Diploma and can say it is brilliant. I personally have not done the NVQ L5 however a friend has. As it is evidence based, you need to be doing a full time safety job to gather said evidence otherwise it is very difficult to complete. The NCRQ route is assignment bas...

Re: NCRQ Diploma Completed

Hi Mark, Pretty much plain sailing. A lot of the content is straight forward basic H&S i.e. risk assessment and accident investigation. As you progress you will learn about personal injury liability etc which is very useful; when you get that dreaded solicitor's letter from some scrote who thinks we...
