LOLER Query
Hi Folks, Quick question, we have a piece of equipment that has eyebolts fitted to it. If the eyebolts are a permanent fixture in the equipment (and are not revovable) then are they governed by LOLER or PUWER? On the basis of the above, what should the inspection/Thorough examination requirements be...

Morning all,
Slight hangover after a day at the Rugby yesterday. Not the best result but hey ho!
Ice Hockey tonight, we face Nottingham. Hoping for a win!
75th Birthday of the RAF Air Cadets today, lots of coverage across the country.

Re: Manual Handling
Hi, Your employer has a legal requirement to make a suitable and sufficient assessment of risks in the workplace (Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations - Regulation 3) and to provide you with this information. Furthermore, your employer has clear legal obligations under the Manual Hand...

Re: PUWER
I guess thinking about it, pallets should be subject to examination prior to being put into use... especially if they're being used as part of a racking system.
Never thought about it this way before though...

Re: Wednesday - 03 February 2016
Goedemorgan from the sunny Netherlands.
First day of auditing our office against the VCA/SCC management system. Discovering my Dutch is pretty poor as I can't read many of the documents.
Back to the UK on Friday though... hooray!
Have a great day.

Re: Are all accidents avoidable.
Maybe the question is, DO WE WANT to stop all accidents. Far to much effort, energy and resources needed to eliminate all accidents, hence it may be that my AFR for all accidents on my site is 3.0. cheers garry Surely the cost of accidents (direct and indirect) would outweigh the time cost and effo...

Re: Are all accidents avoidable.
Hi Berni, I have heard about the RAF's usage of Lean methodology; it's not a true implementation of the "ideology"... although their shadow boarding is very good (for obvious reasons). By it's very nature, within Lean, downtime is a waste. By designing systems with safety in mind, and enga...

Re: Are all accidents avoidable.
Hi Folks, I guess I should weigh in with my thoughts. I am a massive follower of Professor Sidney Dekker, and by the definition of Human & Organisational Performance, all Incidents are avoidable and foreseeable. As an organisation we control 100% of the error traps our employees fall into, we ca...

You could use Microsoft Infopath and get them to do it weekly on their phones.
