Re: HS Committees
Union members are normally chosen by those who are union members (i.e. those who subscribe to the union), those who are not part of the union will have no say on the Union delegates who sit on the company H&S committee. There could be the situation where some committee members are chosen under t...

Re: HS Committees
Hi Esther Some companies choose to recognise trade unions, in fact many large employers will pay for staff who are solely employed in union work. These staff will be involved in investigating accidents, providing representation and help to those who have had an accident, and helping to formulate acc...

Re: Is the following a RIDDOR?
I would say no. As I understand it the primary reporting authority for ships/boats is the MAIB (Marine Accident Investigation Branch). Other members who have worked in this field may disagree with me, so take this information with a small pinch of salt. The bridge owner needs to be contacted ASAP so...

Re: Establishing and Running a Excellent H&S (SHEQ) committee
Hi TWDB Firstly I would check whether your company is 45001/9001 as this can affect the format of the meeting. ISO like certain questions asked + also consider the information flow between your management review meetings and this meeting, ideally information should flow both ways. - Frequency of mee...

Re: Legionella schematic drawings
Autocad is normally used for architectural drawings. It can be a bit pricey if you are using it for one off jobs, so you may wish to use something a bit cheaper. Powerpoint can be used if you want to make a simple schematic.

Re: Office fire procedures - H&S incidents case studies to reinforce message pls
A similar incident to the scenario you quoted was the Atherstone-on-Stour fire. 4 firemen entered the warehouse looking for missing persons, the roof collapsed and 4 firemen died. The missing people had gone to the back of the building and not the fire assembly point. More information here: https://...

Re: OHSAS 45001:2016 - context - deliverer
Hi Esther The "context of an organisation" asks you to consider the context that your organisation operates in , and consider how it will affect your risk management process, needs of external parties, resources etc. For example the context that a grocery store operates in is very differen...

Re: Forklift certificate query
I would send the company an email asking what accreditation scheme they come under, an honest training provider will be happy to provide . If in doubt retest or provide an "inhouse mentor" to see whether he meets your company requirements.
