Re: Humerous Phrases...

One of my workmates favourites is the aforementioned 'there's no i in team', to which I reply, 'no but there is an M and an E !.

Re: September Results

I know this is a bit behind, however I have just logged on after a spell away. Laurae, I feel for you. I failed the unit D twice (passed with 50%), after passing A,B and C first time, so it really is gutting. My masters degree was easier! I suspect as with all industries, there are good and bad trai...

Re: Health and Safety Communication

Hi, I too have problems disseminating info to drivers all over the UK. I do the usual emails, newsletters, bulletins etc, but as to whether they read them! who knows. If it is an important matter where I need a response and clarification that they have received and understood, then we keep a record ...

Re: Vehicle checks

Hi all but mainly to Mat and his interests in why people do what! We have a fleet of 24 HGV's and drivers are on the same truck 99% of the time which helps. We know that 'accidents' can happen, but as a driver myself I know the short cuts and the excuses ! We instruct all drivers to take time - do N...

Re: Leeds Beckett University

Hi Nantha, I can't comment on any H&S courses at Leeds Beckett, but my daughter has just finished her 3 year law degree at Leeds Beckett and she wasn't too impressed ! Varying quality of tutors, seminars that should be 1 and a half hours being wrapped up in 45 minutes, lecturers more interested ...

Re: NEBOSH Diploma Unit D

Good job I have skin on my teeth as I needed it! 50% on my third attempt at unit D so at last I've done it. Goodness knows how anyone gets 72%, but well played! I still cannot see why it was so low and what else they want, but a pass will do. Good luck to all those having to go on, but look at your ...

Unit D feedback

Hi all, I got my dip unit D result back and after passing a, b and c, got a refer on the unit D. Does anyone know if you are sent any feedback from either Nebosh, or my training provider, or am I supposed to guess at what I messed up !? On a more important note I passed my PAT testing training cours...

Re: ndip exam results

Passed C today, already have A and B so am just waiting on D which I submitted February. Anybody know when that result will appear ? Only started the whole lot last March (2014) based on the fact the certificate was not too hard so thought the dip couldn't be that bad ! Have done the dip via e-learn...

Re: Framing a Law

Hi Kev, I know its a week or two on, but I would say that the problem with stress and its causes can be hard to prove. Eg get run over at work, it is plain to see what happened etc, however if someone is stressed, it may well be external sources to the workplace causing it. Also, different people ca...

Re: FORS (Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme)

Hi Leevis, I worked with some companies going for FORS last year. This was for companies running HGV's and delivering to Crossrail. The bulk of the bronze accreditation requirement is to ensure you have a H&S policy, RA's and SWP's etc. If you are up to date in this respect you will already be a...

Safe heater for poss Flammable area

Hi all, I am doing a fire risk assessment on the whole of the business and this nugget has jumped up at the same time. I need to replace a heater in the mechanics workshop. For 20 years he has used a kerosene powered 'torpedo style' heater, which has a naked flame obviously but kicks out loads of he...

Re: career advice

Hi Coldrop, I don't particularly want to go into construction, but there seems to be far more jobs need the construction cert than general, so it got me thinking. Really transport/distribution is my background, however its an industry that has a plethora of cowboys, especially general haulage (I've ...
