Hi All,

I've currently been providing internal training for a number of years within my company on HSE topics (internal presentations).

Currently enrolled on the Level 3 Award in Education and Training certificate to back up my training experience so far (Also have Nebosh, NVQ Level 5 Diploma and other HSE related certs).

Looking at maybe doing some freelance training, and interested to get some feedback in regards to the demand for freelance trainers, day rate expected, equipment needed, best ways to promote, other requirements that may be needed etc etc to give me a better idea as to if its worth moving forward with?

Appreciate any advice that can be offered.

Cheers
Safety Man

So many thoughts. Are you thinking training wholly in your own right or as a sub contractor, so starting courses from zero or presenting someone else’s content.
Have you looked at a SWOT analysis, do you favour a specialism? I might do a quick google of health and safety trainers/ training and ge5 a feel of the opportunities or existing competition. Well that’s a quick starter of my next steps

My advice would be to specialize in 1 or maybe 2 subjects....for example we specialize in forklift training ...and simply don't have time to deliver training in other areas.....

So firstly decide what area you want to deliver training, and your company name.
Once you've decided that, people on here will be able to tell you more information in your chosen subject.

As for cost or fees to your clients, that will depend on how much money you are happy to earn, some people are happy with £120 per day other want £200...and so on.

Advertising is crucial, social media, news papers, website, repping...(incidentally, I hate repping.... but if I have a spear day I will take my flyers round to local businesses), fee listings on various website like yell for example....

The equipment you'll need will depend on what courses you want to deliver, as I've said, first thing you wanna do is choose your specialty..

Is it worth it???
OH yes..... I've been a self employed instructor or 17 years with my own little business and love it.....however it has taken about 8 years to get a good client base.....

Lastly...Good Luck x
