COSHH Open Day

Post by Wellerfan99 »

Good morning all, I currently work in a hospital and we are having an open day, I've been put in charge of the COSHH information and just wondering how do I try to get members of the public and our staff interested in COSHH, it's not the most exciting of things at the best of times! any help gratefully accepted.

Hi Wellerfan99. welcome to the forums

For me, getting people interested is making relevant to them. Additionally there are various learning methods so you need to try and cover as many of these as you can to capture the widest audience who find it relevant.

Additionally good advertising and 'wanting them' to know what it is about will also help your case.

Hope that helps a bit ./thumbsup..

I don't really get involved with CoSHH personally but from a generic (uneducated) point of view - which is likely the stance of your target audience - I'd consider using day to day examples - eg cleaning agents etc (many of which we may have at home) and looking at the possible health effects if not used correctly/mixed/exposed to skin etc ?

Maybe also find a free online quiz - something similar to this one I found: https://www.ihasco.co.uk/blog/entry/2176/coshh-quiz

I guess you could also use the GHS/CLP symbols and ask them what they mean - maybe multi-choice?
