RIDDOR

Post by David68 »

HI Guys

We install point of sale equipment at stores around the country and use self-employed fitters to do the work. Whilst on site, one of the fitters fell off the back of a tail lift and broke his elbow, hand chipped a bone in his wrist.

It is absolutely reportable, but who. Me, the customer, or the self employed fitter.

Personally, I think I am responsible for reporting, but would welcome your opinions

Dave

I am very well. Trying hard to get my enthusiasm for H&S back. It has been a tough couple of years.

Sorry to hear things have been tough David.

I do hope this year will bring improvements for you.

It's been a grotty old World since Covid appeared. We need a HSfB party methinks. ;)

Take care David.

Morning,
It would come down to the contract and prior arrangements made with the client and the contractor. If this had not been agreed in advance, I would report myself. If for any reason this was to be reported more than once, i.e. you and the client, the HSE will be able to see if there's been duplication. As I said I would report it to be on the safe side.

I'm gonna stand by what I said in the other thread - ultimately it doesn't matter, so long as someone reports it. You'll have more info on the vehicle, the customer will know about the environment and the contractor will (hopefully!) know a bit about themselves.

In an ideal world, everyone would provide this info and someone would volunteer to send the report, copying all parties in.
We often think that when we have completed our study of one we know all about two, because 'two' is 'one and one.' We forget that we still have to make a study of 'and.'

Thank you for all of the responses.

I reported it and will be sending a copy to the customer and the host centre. Something tells me that the accident will come as a complete surprise to them. (bangs head against brick wall!)
