Norway helicopter crash: 13 killed near Bergen
"Thirteen people are presumed dead after a helicopter crashed west of the Norwegian city of Bergen, rescuers say.
Eleven of those on board were Norwegian, one was British and one Italian. No survivors have been found.
A major rescue operation was launched but ended within hours of the crash.
Meanwhile, Norway's civil aviation authority has imposed a flight ban on the type of helicopter that crashed - the Eurocopter (EC) 225L Super Puma."

Re: Norway helicopter crash: 13 killed near Bergen
Worrying that the News this morning had video of the Main Rotor merrily floating down after the crash, because clearly the Rotor had separated at some considerable altitude.
Now usually in any sort of incident, the Main Rotor will remain attached until a helicopter hits the ground, so this is clearly extremely significant and while investigators will be remaining 'open minded' there will undoubtedly be press speculation relating to previous gearbox failures.
I'm totally amazed it has separated in such a manner.

Such sad news for all those involved and their families.
You are only a millimetre or a millisecond away from the next incident.
