A couple of little suggestions!

Post by Keith1983 »

I'm in a suggestion mood today as I've put two into our works suggestion scheme so here's two for hsfb for today aswell!

1. Create a "How to get into the H&S profession" document.

There are a massive amount of posts on the forum with newbies asking for advice on how to take the first step into a career in H&S. Whilst this is indeed a very good question it is repeated on an almost daily basis. I would be more than happy to try and collate all of the recommendations of the forums wise members onto one document which anybody asking the question could be directed to or hopefully would come top of any searches they did on the topic.

2. Have a "legislation watch" area.

Although lots of new legislation and amendments gets discussed in the forum maybe having an area for this would be benificial. Not only couls legislation be discussed here but we could have a timeline which could be kept up to date by one of the mods maybe which would be a useful quick reference for new and exisitng legislation to keep our members up to date. Maybe even make it only available for members as an incentive to join!
So when the whole world is safe..............what are we going to do then?

Hi Keith. As usual, we like suggestions good or bad and in this instance, I think I could reply for Jack, however, he will reply as soon as he can. ./thumbsup..

Feel free to give me your opinion on them Alexis, even if it isn't the definitive HSFB viewpoint?

Good suggestions Keith :D ./thumbsup..

An article on how to get started would be a perfect addition to the site and if you want to do that, go for it :D

I don't think a legislation watch area would fit though as the main legislative changes only happen twice a year, and these are covered pretty well on the HSE's site. Any discussions would be best placed in the general section of the forums and would get maximum visibility in there.

Keep 'em coming ./thumbsup..

I'll make a start on the "How to get into H&S" article when I get a bit of time Jack. I'll then send you it for approval and publishing to the site. I think it will prpbably take me a couple of weeks to do as I won't be able to sit down and get it done in one go!

Small bitesized chunks is perfect Keith. Even part 1, part 2 etc would be a good addition to the site ;)

It could be a monthly series in the newsletter.

All contributions welcome. :D

Even bitesize chunks are a problem at the minute Jack! My poorly laptop is away for repair but I'll get on it when it's home safe and sound!
