Aluminium dust hazards?

Post by Jamesbob »

Hi there,
Hope somebody can help me out here.

I work in a mechanical engineering company and for 4-5 hours a day i grind aluminium to prep for painting.

There's been no health and safety assessment and no materials handling sheets.

At the moment I wear a p3 breathing mask and a pair of metal working gloves.
There's also two extractor fans at the end of the room

Is this enough?

Thanks,

James

The company should be completing air monitoring, or else how do they know what level of protection is needed? You could initially ask to see the risk assesment, i would also expect that you attent occupational health to have your lung function tested.
