Access to British Standards online...

Post by bernicarey »

Thanks to one of our HSfB Forum members for highlighting this to the Admin/Moderators.
This is legitimate access to very useful documents.

Ever thought that access to British Standards was prohibitively expensive?
Ever wished they were available online even as a read only, just like popping along to your local Reference Library?
Well they are !! .cheers

To quote Manchester City Council Libraries website:
Access the complete collection of Standards from the British Standards Institution. It contains more than 39,500 documents including: current, historic, and draft British Standards; more than 16,000 BSI adopted European and international standards; technical handbooks; codes of practice; product specifications; and technical glossaries.

...so fill your boots and try not to crash the Manchester City Council website! ;)

Fantastic stuff!
We often think that when we have completed our study of one we know all about two, because 'two' is 'one and one.' We forget that we still have to make a study of 'and.'

Don't think this works any more? I used it when first posted about but went to try today to find something about BS1710 and couldn't get into it at all. Anyone know if this free service is still available and how to get it?

It's not you Ewan, Manchester have withdrawn their free access. :(

But do not despair, Glasgow Libraries have them. Use the link on the RH side. ;)
