United Nations Global Road Safety Week (8-14 May 2017)

Post by Waterbaby »

../.

"Requested by the United Nations General Assembly, the Fourth United Nations Global Road Safety Week will be held from 8-14 May 2017. This Week will focus on speed management and what can be done to address this key risk factor for road traffic deaths and injuries. Therefore it launches action through the ongoing campaign: Save Lives - #SlowDown.

The #SlowDown campaign seeks to increase understanding of the dangers of speed and generate action on measures to address speed, thereby saving lives on the roads. It also calls for urgent action around speed management to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries by 50% by 2020; the target established in the Global Goals for Sustainable Development for the next 15 years (2030)."

This is great if they actually do something about it.

I most certainly am going to name and shame a clown and his pals in our neighbourhood. We are a 20 zone, t-road with a long straight lead into it, but these clowns who live at the top of the road scream in and out 24 seven. I cannot remember the last time I slept all night without being woken by them.

Police have been called by numerous neighbours, numerous times, but nothing ever happens. Will this safety week help here and other places with the same problems? I doubt it!
