Surf's up!!!

Post by wendolene26 »

I took my usual weekend walk along the beach at Aberdeen earlier today. I'm so glad I had my camera with me. Here's a series of 4 photos capturing the height the waves were getting to and the power behind them. Pretty awesome stuff to watch - from a safe distance with a decent(ish) zoom lens.

You are only a millimetre or a millisecond away from the next incident.

Quite amazing how some people will actually get too close to such power though.
I would not bet against there being at least 1 more fatality before the Spring, as idiots get too close to Stormy breakers on piers, seafronts etc. :(

It was pretty wild!

I live very close to there, the other beach at Nigg Bay was amazing, the waves were massive!

Unfortunately there were 2 deaths very near to where I suspect these photographs were taken only 6 weeks ago. A 7 year old boy was swept away and his mother also died attempting to rescue him.

To many people don't understand the power of nature and just how vulnerable we can be to its effects
