This area of H&S has been like this since ever and has never been taken seriously. It is quite sick.

In my days when I worked in hotels, I was six months pregnant and my employer asked me to carry out a huge pot of steaming soup to 300 boisterous rugby boys - when I refused, he said I was pregnant, not ill! Couldn't see the problem of me humfing huge pans about or changing lager kegs when skipping over empties to do so!

And the funny thing is, he's gone back to college to further his hotel management skills and came to me asking about risk assessments and general health and safety in the hotel trade - oh how I made him feel this big
