Cal

Welcome to the forums

There are many threads on this subject if you search the forums (search bar top right).

In summary try and beef up your CV with H&S things you already do in your current role.

Ask your H&S Rep/advisor/manager if you can assist/shadow them, thus building up experience.

You can also attend networking/IOSH/IIRSM meetings and get contacts who may let you shadow them.

Lastly you can also volunteer to local groups and charities etc to build up some experience in Risk Assessing etc.

Hope this helps

Hi everyone.
Im Tommy, 32 from Milton Keynes. I work for John Lewis as a training coordinator and health and safety rep within distribution . I also work as a retained firefighter for Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
I got my iosh managing safely earlier this year and have booked my Nebosh ngc course for January next year.
At John Lewis, my health and safety experience goes as far as filling out incident reports, reviewing risk assessments reporting near misses and carrying out daily inspections of the property.
Within the fire service, everything we do is health and safety orientated and has really given me a passion for health and safety.
I am looking forward to finding out more information, in particular how I can best prepare for my upcoming Nebosh.
Thanks everyone
