Hi guys,

I am in need of help i am doing NVQ level 5 and i have come stuck on one of the modules B5 securing financial resources. This module has stumped me and i really do not know how to even start it. It does not form part of my job and never has done and i dont know what to do with it. I am doing this on distance learning and dont get very far with help from my assessor the info he has given me makes little sense.

Can anyone help me get started maybe with an example or something, i am sure when i get started it will be less frustrating.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim

Try approaching it from another angle, when i did this unit i provided evidence of training etc which i identified for my team. This process was backed up by emails etc to my director which explained the requirements for the training for the team and the cost.

Once i had the training approved by the director i was sent a sign off sheet for funds, this was my way of securing financial resources. This approach was fine and was signed off first time by the assessor.

If you need a bit more give me a shout

Simon

Do you have any say in the type of PPE used in your company? - same theory as training - define, advise through finance advice memos or e mails to directors so that their finance goes to your recommendations - you have then influenced their safety budget.

Also - do you advise on correct types of machinery or goods in your organisation that senior managers or directors then buy on their budgets? - another direct influence on buying even if you're not actually spending the company's money.

Also - Buying / Purchasing department senior managers - influence not to buy just on price, but to build in safety and quality to legal and British standards.

Have you ever set up an induction video from an outside company? - deciding content and budgetting for time taken and perhaps local celebrities doing voiceovers?

I also specifed which local regional scaffold companies were utilised on client sites on warranty roof repairs or insurance repairs.

These were all used by me on my NVQ 5, and all accepted without recourse - personal affidavits from the 5 directors accompanied the evidence.
