Earth sleeving hanging from belt
Hi all I wonder if anyone can help, I had for want of a better saying 'my ass chewed off' by health and safety officer for earth sleeving hanging about 500mm from my tool belt, I can find nothing about this in HSE book and have a meeting with bosses Monday about this, I want to fight my corner but also if he's correct then that's that, thank you

Hi
Simple answer is that it's not simple.
You've told us nothing of substance other than perhaps your H&S officer is over keen... , but you're presumably an electrician. Where were you working, up a scaffold, up a stepladder, walking a corridor in an office block, working on a 'shop floor'?
All I can suggest is that you wait and see exactly what the H&S officer has written you up for and if not already explained, ask what exactly was a hazard about a bit of pvc sleeve?
Are you only 4ft 6in tall and could trip over it?
Did he think it was getting longer as you walked and could be a trip hazard?

Thanks for getting back, he said that using power tools or machinery could get caught in it, like long hair, I thought it absolutely ridiculous

Risk yes.
Significant Risk, highly doubtful without knowing the exact circumstances.
But plastic sleeve is going to snap before it pulls you into anything.
Could you have been a bit neater, yes, did it deserve a quiet mention... yes.
A 'Chewing out and reporting to Boss'... well if that's all your H&S officer has to worry about, he's got a dream job.
