Hi All,

I have come across a job advert where the client is requesting an advisor/manager to meet certain kpi's in their role.
The kpi's include a reduction in RIDDOR reportable incidents. Now i'm all for companies that are looking to improve their H&S standards and for ISO certification to be met the standard includes the term"continual Improvement". However surely they becomes an element of not reporting for fear of going above their yearly quota. I'm a firm believer in internal reporting of incidents/near misses/ accidents being encouraged to learn from the incident and ensure it doesn't happen again. If workers are encouraged to work to site rules/RAMS/SOP's which all add to a safe management system this will surely drive down incidents therefore achieving a reduction in reporting incidents.
As for reporting under RIDDOR surely this is a legal requirement and should be reported when the requirements to report are met.

Any thoughts/comments etc.

I don't believe this is a new thing to be honest a lot of companies do this.

I don't agree that you should be judged on RIDDORS but with proactive measures in place you will see a reduction in them

I don't think the person in this position will be punished for RIDDOR's happening but may have bonuses connected to the reduction or the level being below industry standard, this is far as I am aware is common in large businesses and is maybe just worded badly in the advert for the job

this shouldn't really put you off applying for this position but I would maybe ask a few questions around this area if you get to interview stage
