Re: Suitable course manual
Hi Pete from what I understand, you are struggling with the book you have and are hoping for a book that will explain it better? if you are doing your certificate through a provider then I would stick to the books they give you, I found that Ed Ferrets books just confused me. However the one thing ...

Re: Suitable course manual
Hi Pete First off, let me say I have split this from the topic which you had added it to. That topic was from some 7 years ago, so a fresh start is much more relevant. As to your question, you appear to be referencing Amazon pages offering different editions of the same book. Your first link is 5th...

Re: NEBOSH Gen Cert v CIEH Level 3 Award in Health and Safet
Hi Pete There is quite a difference between the courses. The NEBOSH General Certificate (if done by block learning) is around 10 days vs. the CIEH courses at 3 or 5 days. The NEBOSH course is much more in depth, aimed at managers who need detailed knowledge of health and safety issues, or those who...

Re: Prison Officer seeks help/advice on the NGC
Pete, given you're an officer, why not become an appointed PoA heath and safety rep and then go on TUC health and safety courses - they are paid for and you should have no problems securing paid release from work to attend. Stage 1 & 2 http://www.unionlearn.org.uk/education/index.cfm?mins=12&qu...

Re: Prison Officer seeks help/advice on the NGC
[quote="Reddwarf"]Yes NGC would be a good course to start with. i think you need to weigh up the pros and cons of distance learning. Attending a course on a weekly basis means that you will have a fixed time when you study and have the support of a tutor as well as others on the course and...

Re: Prison Officer seeks help/advice on the NGC
Hi, personally I would not go the distance learning route, I have done that for my environmental qualification and find it difficult - lack of tutor support, etc. I much prefer the classroom experience as feel I learn a lot more and remain motivated. But others like distance learning. As you have n...
