Re: Life on the allotment !

Back to work today after one day on the allotment finding and repairing fence damage in the recent gales - luckily not as bad as others due to use of Met posts as securing attachments to my fence posts. Two repaired panels had damage, one of which will be a full replacement. Sheds secure, no glass o...

Escaping the rat race for five days from tomorrow - jetting out with the other half to Germany to see 6 little grandchildren and have a whale of a "spoil the kids" weekend.

Re: Life on the allotment !

Forcing myself to stop working at home at night so that I can enjoy a quiet time watering both plots and reaping the fruit harvests. 8 kgs of strawberries from two 6 foot beds over the last week - they struggled to produce last year. Last weeks pickings - strawberries, rhubarb, loganberries, blackcu...

Re: Live air traffic, check this out!

I live directly under the flight path for large goods carrying helicopters going out to north sea rigs - we also seem to have police helicopter SA 99 from Humberside airport circling most nights as well at around 1000 feet - just guarding us ????

Ear defenders anyone??

Re: Get well soon Alexis

Glad you're sorted , Alexis, been away on business a lot - trying to raise finance to buy business 3 so time is hectic. When I have time, I'll go through the 9 page tale and hopefully avoid your doctors and hospital for my blood pressure! I got rid of my statin tablets for cholesterol last year by c...

Re: FSB - Federation of Small Businesses

I'm a member of the FSB, locally to me, had a couple of reasonable jobs for their H&S needs, especially the local chairman who has a large hardware / locksmith warehouse and on line service. There are few meeting opportunities to network, and my local group struggles to raise meeting attendances...

Re: Life on the allotment !

Getting back on track now after a good couple of Sundays down on the allotments. Two grass cuts on the orchard plot has filled up the compost bins and will start heating them up nicely! Two new fruit trees planted on orchard plot 2, no more room left now. Fence repairs completed, one gate repair com...

Re: Life on the allotment !

Life on the allotment - miles behind with everything due to the lousy endless Winter / ghost Spring we had in Feb / March up to April, then I contracted the worse flu bug in my life and had two & a bit weeks off work, let alone nothing done on the allotment. Had two hours putting a replacement r...
