Re: Refuge points / Temporary waiting spaces

Hi all Been a while  Interesting topic as this is a massive issue we face currently with residential developments. We await final BS documents like BS9991 and evacuation lift BS EN to be published, however we have the London Plan which say one thing and Approved Document B Volume 1 say someth...

Re: Have you risk assessed everything?

What a tragic accident and one that is perhaps foreseeable but would it be captured in every instance? I doubt it I cannot agree with you re seatbelts. I was an operational firefighter for almost 30 years and attended countless RTCs in that time. You are right in that there were many instances where...

Re: Fire evacuation dilemma

Brilliant news MrsP!

Well done for your determination as many would have given up at the first hurdle. The fire service are happy and you have 'enjoyed'(?) a valuable learning experience.

Congratulations on your success clapclap

Morning all

Bon voyage Will

Storm Henk was fun in London. My local weather station recorded 62mph. We had a few trees down nearby and I have wrestled a fence panel - my lazy neighbours - back into place this morning

Have a good day everyone. I am not working until the weekend 👍

Re: New Years Eve 2023

Good afternoon all Alexis, I share your disappointment for what is happening in the world. I hope that the (rather toothless) UN can influence things and bring about a little peace across the globe. But then again, I believe in Santa and the tooth fairy, so some might say I have naive expectations W...

Re: Convincing a client of a bad idea? Any ideas?

Hiya The decision has been made as all parties around the table signed it off with me as the only member of the project team who opposed the proposal. I intend to record my views on the corporate risk register but am already getting pushback as its not usual practice while a project is open. All new...

Re: Sunday - 17 December 2023

Sorry to see that the weather up in the NW of the UK is pretty rough today. Weather in London is a bit better than Scotland as its cloudy but dry and expected to reach double figures and some sunshine I am just about to wash my car as I have been driving past a HS2 site all week and despite it costi...

Re: Convincing a client of a bad idea? Any ideas?

I guess it is fair to say that diesel generator fires are pretty rare. There must be hundreds of thousands running at any time around the world at any time. But they do happen. Ship engine fires may be used as an example. However, it is the common cause failures you need to focus on if loss of serv...

Convincing a client of a bad idea? Any ideas?

OK, not a H&S issue, but not a million miles away - I wonder if anyone has experience of convincing a belligerent client that their plan of ensuring business residence contains a huge vulnerability The client is building a large data centre. Its is absolutely vital to their business. Naturally a...

Re: Wednesday - 13 December 2023

Morning all I am enjoying my week off by meeting with care home managers today to 'discuss' ways they can improve the care they are giving to an elderly relative. As they are charging £8,000 a month, I reckon we have the right to demand certain standards are maintained . [smilie=dweeba20.gif] Lookin...
