Has anyone ever tried wearing a face covering in the Gym?
Not only is it very difficult, dangerous is probably a better word getting the appropriate amount of oxygen.
Can you imagine the concentration of Corona virus in that mask if the virus is in the air.

Re: IOSH membership
It is if you are trying to get a job, many companies ask for IOSH membership.
If not the more you put in the more you get out.

Re: COSHH database / Management software.
On my last job I was trialling "My Compliance" software, there is a facility on there to store SDS's you could import directly from the MSDS PDF, you can get a 2 week trial for free, Cloud based so access from anywhere.

Re: Traffic Management Plan
Do you have a current map of the site as it stands?
That could be your template.
Failing that use a google maps view and work with that.
Traffic plans can be as complex or as simple as you like, as long as it gets the details across simple is often better.

Re: Roll Cages
Ask your manager for a copy of the Risk assessment or / and safe working practice. There is likely to be a section that states that you should perform a visual inspection, follow the RA / SWP. if there isn't a SWP / RA request one be completed. You should all be briefed on risk assessments and where...

Re: Lone worker HOC
What do you consider a buddy system?
Is it someone who is with the employee constantly or visits every now and then?
If they stay with the employee constantly then it is no longer lone working and normal Risk assessment would be required.

Re: Contract working
Thank you for your advice and bumps.
The job I was going for was a 3 to 6 month contract nearby in Bristol.
I was wondering if contracting was the way to go.
Not sure how much contract work is out there.
I just need a job and some income before my depression takes over me again

Re: FLT charging area
Juan pretty much has it covered. 2 of my sites had battery charging machines, these were massive machines that took loads of FLT batteries. We had a shower near there for emergencies. Another site had just a few flt's and had an eye wash station nearby, 2 bottles in a container. Ask yourself, how fa...

Re: Report or not to report
If someone tells me "we have been doing it that way for 30 years" I can ask them if they would stop doing it that way if they died doing it. I can make them aware that the 120 people who died at work last year, that is the first time they have died doing it. Chernobyl had never blown up un...

Re: Report or not to report
I have decided not to report but passed my concerns through a different route. My concerns were not just that the fire doors were wedged open but I was expected to train fire marshals, hold safety meetings and encourage staff to think safety. the staff had a better grasp of H&S than the MD. Last...
