Its always been a battle to a greater or lesser extent but more often than not its an uphill battle. On my off days I wondered what it would be like to work...

Re: Tools / methods to collect data for Risk assessment
First thing is Task Analysis which then allows hazard identification followed by a risk assessment. I take one machine and then get the operatives to write a list of all the tasks they have to do on that machine. it would look like : 1> go find product. 2> Get pallet truck and collect product. 3 off...

Re: Disciplinary
Hi, This is an issue which is more complex than it looks. I had one of my people cut themselves recently and the company was looking at it with a view to taking possible action. We soon sorted that out as management as always had a role to play in the incident. The point of focus on this incident fr...

Re: Process Plant & Emergency Stops
Hi, We have a large amount of equipment which has a considerable number of E stops. We work 24/7. To check that all the E stops do actualy work is a fairly big task. If you needed to use an E stop then there is a good chance you are in danger. Based on our risk assessments. We have looked at what ot...

Re: In house Health & Safety Communications
I am currently using a large screen TV in our factory by the coffee machine. Seems to be doing well as I see people reading and looking at pictures.
Very easy to manipulate the data being shown. Not expensive to get a tV now a days.

Re: Near miss v accident
We have had a good up take in near miss reporting because I am pushing the whole topic. They report everything as near miss. When it arrives on my desk things can change- so I have to weed things a little as not all are near miss. hence I sort into my most 3 common piles. Near miss. Un safe conditio...

Re: Electronic cigarettes again...........
In general the attitudes expressed seem very poor and based more on I do not like you and your sort. If I get any e ciggys on my site I will not have a problem. The legislation does not support a ban. They are not in any way harmfull to anyone. They are only temporary. If one of the employees does m...
