Being from Aberdeen this was a horrendous day for us. I know two people who were on it, one died, one survived.
I was only 12 but can still remember the helicopters flying in constantly that night.
RIP

No different apart from its a skilled trade you mean? Like any other trade or profession, there are different levels of skill. Like I said, different levels.... https://www.cityandguilds.com/qualifications-and-apprenticeships/engineering/mechanical/3268-welding-skills#tab=information City & Gui...

Re: Arc Welding
Whilst Dodds has got a valid point, I'm with fs1982 on this; it all depends on what is being welded and why. Is it structural, is it safety critical, etc? Taking extreme examples, there's a range from someone dabbling in welding as an artist trying something different (I'll just make a quick bodge ...

Re: Arc Welding
Hi, Would it be possible for some advise on the training required for employees to carry out arc welding? It would be the same training required to be any welder really, normally an apprenticeship and they can prove their competency via a trade test if required. Its not just a case of letting someo...

HAVs
Hey all. So, we're looking at HAVs for our grinder/power tool operators....obviously all power tools come with the vibration levels from the manufacturer, is this enough to go on or should you monitor the tool at a prescribed period to ensure the vibration level is still accurate? I'm not so fussed ...

Re: How to show evaluation of compliance?
Hence doing it as part of the internal audit process, you have shown where you checked, simple. Its saved us a lot of time doing it this way.

Re: How to show evaluation of compliance?
I do this via the internal audits, I did used to carry out a separate evaluation but it wasn't worth it.
Basically listed the legislation that applied and covered it during the audit. Way easier.

Re: Knowing when to give up
I go through the same thing every so often, you feel like walking away and doing something completely different instead. It normally doesn't last too long though as I feel that we're doing the company the greater good, some people will never listen, you just have to block that out and focus on the b...

Re: asbestos survey
In my opinion, most definitely. If it was being managed correctly there would be regular, documented inspections they'd be able to supply you. It sounds like it wasn't managed very well at all. Regardless of the low rating, if its been disturbed then the report they've gave you is out of date and th...

Re: Lost Time Injury
It seems like the medical professionals have gave the all clear which would indicate that they should be able to work.
Maybe they're looking down the lines of a claim also so hence taking time off.
Would I class it as an LTI for my organisation, no.
