Re: Display screen equipment regulations
Simple solution to DSE glasses is the company pays a contribution towards any glasses where an optician has identified in writing that a new prescription is needed for computer work and the person falls in to your definition of a computer user. Ours is somebody who on average uses a computer at work...

Re: Deputy Clegg's Regulatory Jamboree
The above example of the restaurant and toothpicks and lots of others that are reported in the press as H&S gone mad have nothing at all to do with H&S at work but are all to do with the usually irrational fear of liability claims

Re: Driver Management
Common sense from Jack. Only thing I would add is that the parents should tell their insurers what they are doing. They will not need to add Business Use but may have to alert them they are doing voluntary work. Depends on the insurers and whether they are already working or not whether they would h...

Re: Catch22
I am no great fan of qualifications just for the sake of the cv but in the real world HR departments have to filter job applications and the simplest way to do this is by academic achievements. Some employers will put more store in experience but without further investigation in to job performance i...

Re: Which route to IOSH Graduate Membership?
Generally the only people who are concerned about how you get CMIOSH are other H&S practitioners, employers just want to know you have it if they even understand what it is. It will depend on the sector you want to work in so you should check there. Personally I would go for the quckest route as...

Re: Southwark get fingers burnt, attempting FRAs on the chea

Re: Health and safety in "crisis" says Lord Young
He is advising David Cameron I believe. The same man who was quoting the bonkers conkers and hanging basket stories as examples of H&S gone mad and wrong on both counts. Not sure who did their research on them but they should be sacked. I did not see him, us poor visitors did not get to join the...

Re: Expectant Mother RA
Hi Roddy I don't know if it is worth adding to yours but for ours I include biological hazards, meaning diseases such measels which can harm the unborn child. We go out to peoples houses so the action is that an expectant mother avoids contact with known cases. Working at height could be worth a men...

Not sure if it would suit your situation but I know people who use evacuation sheets or mats instead of chairs
