IOSH Course Approval
Hi Everyone, I'm looking for some info from the IOSH trainers on the forums, particularly those who have gone through the process of having their own courses approved by IOSH. The scenario is that we are currently an IOSH approved centre delivering a variety of courses, Working Safely, Managing Safe...

Congratulations on the new job Andy.
Now, as I have a contact on the inside can you please start a campaign for the re-release of Trashy Blonde? By far BrewDogs finest effort but no longer available in the UK

Re: Handrail Height
Siblo,
I'd agree with the 1100 mm and it is achievable with 30 mm tube and still have <470 mm gap if you use 150 mm kick boards at the bottomm.
1100 mm
- ( 2 x 30 mm) tubes
- 150 mm kick board
= 890 /2 = 445 mm gaps.

Piper Alpha 30th Anniversary
30 years ago today 167 men lost their lives during the biggest offshore disaster ever seen anywhere in the world. I can clearly remember discovering the story on a cross channel ferry on the way home from a school trip to France. Being from Aberdeen many of us on the trip had relatives working offsh...

Re: Rope Access rigging. IRATA rope hauling methods
I think you've pretty much answered your own question to be honest. Don't quote me on this as I'm no rope access expert but I'm pretty sure IRATA only deal with the access part of the task. Anything else will be covered by specific job competence, i.e. riggers will have certification (OPITO, NVQ etc...

Re: Getting a start in HSE.... (ideally back offshore)
DB7 I know it's not what you want to hear but the chances of obtaining even an entry level position offshore is very slim, not impossible but not far from it. I'm not a recruiter but I do work alongside a recruitment team who fill both temporary and permanent positions in Oil and Gas in the UK and o...
