Re: Archive Racking
Hi Keith, What's the scale of your racking? is it racking or shelving? My company does a lot of varied document storage from loose files on Link51 shelving to boxed archives in boarded pallet racking and I always get these inspected by a SEMA approved company. We also have some standard sized shelvi...

Re: Flammable Liquid Licence?
I've informed the director it's a red herring and made him aware of the regs we conform to (DSEAR, COMAH & COSHH) - so expecting a phone call shortly to explain
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: Flammable Liquid Licence?
Keith - would presume all that would be covered from the carriers side under ADR.
Johnno - Would be well under the consent levels.
It was a new one on me? needed some opinions from more experienced pro's before I give him an answer - so many thanks

Re: Flammable Liquid Licence?
Yeah, I could only find literature which related to petrol. Our business development director has been asked if we have such a licence in relation to two trailers full of toiletries (including some perfume) which may be on their way to re-work - and by that I mean removing/covering a label from the ...

Re: Canteen Facilities
Hi FXR, Welcome and nothing to add except that it is increasingly more frequent these days for companies to downgrade from serviced canteens to help yourself. We have around 80 staff in one operation and these are provided with a canteen area, hot water boiler, microwaves, fridges, toasters, hot and...

Re: FLT Pre-operational Check Question
Hi,
All good points.
They have also been trained to carry out the pre-op checks and so need to use the equipment in accordance with their training.

Re: IPAF Cert when using MEWPS
Hi Derek, I agree with Jack on this one. My understanding is that IPAF are a non-profit making body who assist with best practice in the powered access sector (worldwide) for manufacturers, training bodies etc. Their accredited training agents deliver courses to an exacting standard but this could a...

Re: PAT TESTING
Hi Derek, All appliances and associated leads should be tested separately as any item could be faulty. So, in the case of a PC you would generally test the power lead, to make sure the live and neutral haven't been swapped, for example, and then test the PC - using the lead that is normally associat...

Re: Use of roll cages in high bay racking
Thanks to everyone for the input .salut I've used hand-held radios in previous operations and found them to greatly improve the productivity (as well as provide quite a few laughs  ) and they would go a long way to better solving some other problems, which currently have some work-arounds. Unfo...

Re: Use of roll cages in high bay racking
Hi 1mpeccable, I understand what you're saying abouting relinquishing some of the responsibility to the operational side, the problem is these same people have had a number of years to put in safe systems of work (including up to date RA's) and haven't. Although the OPs director is now more aware of...

Re: Use of roll cages in high bay racking
Space really is at a premium, hence the pallet picking in the aisles. This pre-dates my involvement by about six years and is one of those ingrained; don't want to think about doing it another way, it'll never happen to me, practices.....well, we all know the ones  I do try to accommodate prod...
