Re: NEBOSH OR TUC

I've been lucky enough to do both and found both to be very different, but equally valuable - it completely depends on your motivations for doing the course. The TUC diploma is excellent and gives you a really good insight into occupational health, rather than management of health and safety itself....

Office training on CD Rom

Hello everyone, Can anyone tell me if there are any good suppliers of Training Cd Roms at a "reasonable price" which I can use for the admin staff in our branches? I used to work for a Global Company and they had great CD Rom training packages - but that type of expenditure is not availabl...

Re: Copy of a RIDDOR

Whenever you start a company, nobody knows what RIDDOR's have taken place in the past 12 months - so I always give a call to the HSE and ask for a breakdown of the RIDDOR information for the past 2 years. It takes about 7 days and then they send you an email or letter with the data. I'm not sure abo...

Re: Is it worth being a member of Iosh?

To be honest i'm of the same opinon. I'm aware of the 'benefits' that IOSH membership offers - but as someone who doesn't attend the branch meetings, doesn't really utilise their forums and holds membership to demonstrate level of competence; I can't really see the point of paying to demonstrate tha...

Personal Dose Noise Meter

Hello Everyone! Some of our engineers use 18v drills to make holes in brickwork for pipe feeds. This is a small part of the task and from using a sound meter to get a decibel reading at various stages of the job (AND from manufacturers instructions, HSE guidance, etc, etc) i'm pretty confident that ...

Re: Construction Health and Safety Experience needed PLEASE!

Unfortunately I found that the only way to get in to an industry in which they wanted full time health and safety advice (or to get into a position whereby you can have hands on experience of managing health and safety) was to offer my services on a voluntary basis. I initially started my career as ...

Re: Spate of vehicle accidents

I think the car wreck idea is very good - however I can see the downside in relation to commercial damage to the Company. In principle I think it would have a great effect - however, you are talking to the person who wanted to switch on a smoke machine in the locked storage cupboard next to the cant...
