Re: IOSH Blueprint
For me it's really poor, just spent a few days going through it and completed a review with my line manager this morning. A lot of the self-assessment isn't designed for the H&S Professional who has a normal day job, there were a lot of questions where I have never been involved with (and proba...

Re: Man down alarms
If it's an options there's plenty of affordable, basic lone worker alarm and monitoring apps. I've heard of Stay Safe app being used in the past, they've been around for a good few years. There's also plenty of options for the old style lone worker fob. Lone Alert UK are a company that I've seen use...

Re: An Odd CPD Issue
I'd second Alexis. If they want a competent professional involved in the work, they should have no issues with some arrangement. Beware not to get caught in a role which is an attempted incidence of "corner cutting" I've noticed on the increase with some organisations. In my experience in ...

Re: Result fixing by NEBOSH
I've always suspected something like this to be the case as when I had to repeat an exam there seemed to be no predictability in terms of performance - I left feeling I'd done well and hit all the key points based on the course notes and Examiner Report, only to be short within a 8-10% margin. When ...

Re: QHSE Roles & development
For environmental, I would recommend the NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management as providing a very good broad base. Likewise the Certificate is a good entry level route if you're not sure about the Diploma commitment. I did both, one after the other and found them to be achievable without skimp...

Re: Shot in the dark - First Aid Question
I also can't find anything in law that supports it or indicates such an explicit requirement. I'm cautiously leaning towards it being a load of cobblers and unfortunately it's not the first time I've heard of similar attempts to over stretch relatively innocuous provisions. Generally if it were a le...

Re: Did you vote?
Thank you for your vote - thats really kind of you. and, thank you for answering my questions, I agree that the IOSH meetings do not feel accessible and do need to change, i find that this has improved over lock down but there is still alot to go. CMIOSH does, in my opinion hold alot of sway in com...

Re: Did you vote?
To answer your question I did vote, for you, as a matter of fact. I only voted as I remembered your post on the forum. Like witsd, I find IOSH to be an organisation that I struggle to define a purpose for beyond it's artful collection of membership fees and training income. I don't believe any of th...

Re: So i have a NEBOSH diploma - what should I do next training wise
You could consider a Masters, either through the NEBOSH affiliated universities or elsewhere. I find the learning level is poor compared to the Diploma on safety but if it's a mixed environmental one it can be interesting to balance out the repetition and cover new topics. A natural progression migh...

Re: Record Keeping/Site Diary safety equivalent
Thanks guys for your advice. I hadn't actually used a formal action tracker up to now, but I think it would be a good way of keeping everyone accountable during the collecting up of issues from observations and phone calls. I'm banging in the emails but I'd like to have something central to help ens...

Re: Record Keeping/Site Diary safety equivalent
EagleBeagle that would be some task to record everything your doing on daily basis, I would be interested to know if anyone does this Well, significant activities in terms of things observed and basically accounting for your day from the point of view of being read by an observer who may not be fam...
